Brainstorming Names For Success

Monday, August 18th, 2008

What’s in a name? In business it may very well be everything. The name is the forefront of your business and what your customers will relate to. Name recognition will help bring in new customers as well as build brand loyalty with existing ones. Think about it, how many times have you made a purchase because you recognized a name? Even sub- consciously? It happens to everyone and even if you have an idea or product that has the potential to make millions it will need a good name. If you name your business anything other than your own you will have a DBA, “Doing Business As” that you will have to register. Some cities or states may require your to register the name even if you use your own. The charge to register is usually no more than $35. If people are contacting you about your business, or making checks out to you then your name is the business name. If you are selling a product or service directly to customers it will be easier to keep your business and personal finances separate by giving the business a name of its own.

When thinking of a name consider would you must consider if you want to give the impression that you and the business are different. While thinking of something creative and easy to remember it may also help to describe or promote the business through the name itself. On the other hand, you may chose to implement your name while describing your business (ex. Rudy’s Mobile Auto Wax). However, try to avoid using names that can be confused with other businesses or corporations. If Harold Porter, wants to start a computer service business naming it “HP Computer Doctor” isn’t a good idea. Not only is he limiting his target market by giving the impression he only services HP computers but if Hewlett Packard experiences some negative publicity it could also effect his company. In any case do not claim to be something you are not. If you sell high end business attire you would not say you are a sporting good supplier.

Here are a few things you should consider during the brainstorming phase to help save money, time, and effort.

Is the name available- This can be done by going to the Department of the Secretary of State website for your state, exactly where to go depends on the type of business being formed. If you are having a hard time finding something email Business Empire and we will try to find it for you and send you the URL.

Avoid Fades or Trends- If your targeting a younger audience using a trendy word or phrase might do well initially but trends tend to change.

Marketing Yourself- Consider if you want to operate locally? Nationally? Internationally? Is there a negative association? Is it easy to remember? Can you verbalize it?

Domain Name- With so many people using the internet these days web availability is just as important. Check to make sure the domain name relative to your company is available.

Know your Competitors- Avoid names close to those of competitors. Then you won’t have to worry about customer confusion causing you to lose business.

Slogans, Taglines, Avatars & Logos- All are different but help accomplish the same task. What people will remember about your company. A good name will let you have a broader range with your advertising efforts.

Internet Marketing Can Be Easy, Part 2

Friday, April 25th, 2008

a.k.a. Keep it simple, Pay Program This is part 2 in a series of articles I’m writing about Internet marketing that is really directed at people that are just starting out in their own home based business. In some cases I think that this information can also be helpful to experienced business owners and webmasters if they approach it with an opened mind and remember back to a time when they too were brand new at Internet Marketing. The first article in this series was about choosing the best online business opportunity for you. Each online program can be as unique as the people that want to join them. In my first article I briefly touched on one very important aspect in choosing which affiliate program to join and that is the pay plan or pay scheme that is offered by the program. There is no doubt that every online program tries to make their payment schedule look as attractive to people as possible. After all if it appears that the company has big payouts with goals that are easily obtainable it makes the program seem very attractive. Notice that I have alluded to the idea that the pay plan appears to be attractive, what I didn’t necessarily say is that it is a good pay plan. There are several different pay plans available. I truly believe that some of the programs intentionally try to mislead its members, which of course makes any incoming revenue through sales made by their members far easier for the company to hang onto or at the very least for the people at the top of the program often called the top money earners or top recruiters to hang onto. In most cases the best way to make money with any online program is by recruiting new members to the program. The person that has the most recruits will typically be the person that makes the most money in the program. It’s a fairly easy concept. However, most online businesses and in fact almost any MLM or Network marketing business on or offline usually offers its members bonuses or incentives to produce greater results and recruit more people. As an example one online business I belong to upgrades you to what they call a 1 star associate for recruiting 3 new members to their program and that entitles you to share in a bonus pool. Its an easy concept to follow, very straight forward and it only gets better by achieving higher ranks, that is 2 star, 3 star and so on. As I mentioned it’s an easy concept. Now my momma didn’t raise no fools but I can tell you there are several programs out there that just make no sense to me. Have a careful look at the program you’re thinking of joining. Try to imagine how much money you’re going to be making after you’ve been with the program for a while and have had some success recruiting new members. If you can’t understand how you’re going to be making the money that you’ve earned or are unsure about how you earned it maybe you should avoid that particular program. Many online businesses make their payment schedule so complicated that not even Einstein could work out the details. I’m not saying that the company is trying to cheat you I’m just saying that by misleading you it makes their program seem to be very attractive and unfortunately when you get your first paycheck it can be very disappointing. There are so many different payment schemes out there that I can’t possibly cover all of them in this article. Maybe I’ll write an article about the different schemes at another time. One of my favorite online business opportunities is EDC Gold largely because of the payment plan that they offer their members. They refer to it as the Australian 2up plan. What that means is after you have joined the company you owe your first two sales to your sponsor, that’s the person who brought you into the program. After that every sale you make is yours to keep and every sale you make pays you a 100% commission, which is paid directly to you by the customer. It’s that simple. Just a minute now… I have to give away my first two sales? At first it may seem foolhardy to just give away your first two sales for no apparent reason other than to fill the needs of the program. In the Australian 2up plan the first two sales are referred to as training sales. They ensure that your sponsor has a vested interest in your success. After all, if your sponsor benefits directly by training you and helping you to make your first two sales it only stands to reason that they will not abandon you after you have joined the company and they will do everything they can to help you succeed in the business. The news just gets better from here. The first two sales, new recruits, you forward to your sponsor will also owe your sponsor their first two sales. Your sponsor will be required to train them and the cycle continues. The program is viral in this way and it provides EDC Gold members with the opportunity to build a very lucrative business. Remember you too are a sponsor and will benefit form this very same pay plan. If you have enjoyed this article and found it to be helpful please come back again for part 3 in the series. Free1Up Retrospect - Is This Opportunity Right For You Or Not?

Friday, April 25th, 2008

Free1Up retrospect that first explains the reasons why you may not want to join this online income opportunity. While there are many benefits to this great money-making opportunity, you should also look at some of the reasons why you may NOT want to join. Below is a list of three top reasons you may not want to join Free1Up.com, complete with full explanations… #1 - Are you looking to “Get Rich Quick”… It is feasible to make inordinate amounts of money with Free1Up given the right marketing strategy, support from your sponsor, and your own persistence. It is far from a “Get Rich Quick” scam. You’ll have to put in some work, and do a little more than just “sign up” to reap the benefits. When I say “work” though, I mean taking the necessary steps to getting the word out. There are people out there looking for legitimate money-making opportunities, it’s just a matter of exposing THOSE people to your website. #2 - If you are unwilling to be persistent. So you’ve signed up. You’ve read all of the materials and advice your sponsor (aka team leader) has provided you (considering your sponsor cares enough to do that for you). Now what? One day rolls around, no sales. Two, three days-still no sales. Do you give up? If so, then stay away from Free1Up…as a matter of fact, stay away from any legitimate online business and blow your money on scam after scam until you give up doing that. I’m not trying to be harsh, but the truth is, you must create a strategy and follow through with it, at least for a few weeks, if not a few months before you try something else. As mentioned before, you should have a sponsor that is willing to help you out and guide you along until you are comfortable running the business on your own. Unfortunately, not everyone has a good sponsor-the good news is that there is mountains of information all over the internet to help you be successful, and to create a good strategy that will work. #3 - If you are the type to ask for more than what you put in… There is a main product that the Free1Up system promotes. It’s called the “Ad System” and it can be pricey ($400 at the time of this writing), but fortunately, for the persistent and serious Free1Up member, this money is earned back in only 2 sales. But let’s go back to what you are trying to do in Free1Up. You are promoting the “Ad System”, because that is what’s going to make you money. You can choose to stay a Free member and still earn money by selling the Ad System, but how effective can you be at selling something that you haven’t purchased yourself? True, not every car salesman has every car in the lot that he or she is selling, but I’m sure they own an automobile of some sort, and it’s a broad enough topic that someone can know everything about a specific automobile and not own it. Unfortunately, with the “Ad System” being such a unique and exclusive product to Free1Up, it is hard to know much about the specifics unless you own it. So I’ll go back to the price of the product. Why would you want to shuffle out $400 for something you don’t know the “specifics” about? Just as I mentioned earlier, it would only take two sales to earn the money back (you get 50% commission for selling the “Ad System”), so it is a relatively easy task for someone that is (once again) persistent, and serious about making money online. But don’t get me wrong when I say “sales”. It’s definitely not the field for everyone. I don’t think I could convince my next door neighbor to buy a box of girl-scout cookies, much less a $400 “Ad System”. That is where Free1Up support comes in. The support system in Free1Up is absolutely amazing and is the #1 way to free up all skepticism about whether or not Free1Up is a “scam”. Once you sign up for free, you can go into the back office and talk live with either Richard Morris (the founder of Free1Up, if he is in a conference call at the time), or his Live Sales Executives (LSE)–which are available 24/5 and some hours on the weekends. They are all are very knowledgeable and can help with any questions you may have about the system. Not to mention, Richard holds three conference calls per week, giving news updates on Free1Up and answering questions. But I got a little off-track, let’s go back to the “sales” aspect of the program. Not a salesman? It’s perfectly fine because not only do the LSEs in the Live Support Chat help YOU with any questions you may have, you can direct people that signed up free under you to an LSE, and they will do all the “selling” for you. So let’s say, for instance, someone signed up for free (not to much to ask, right?) from your page, which makes them YOUR prospect. You don’t know what to say to them to convince them to purchase the “Ad System”, so you just direct them to the support chat room and an LSE (it’s best to give them a head’s up that you will be sending someone their way) will do all the talking for you. If they decide to upgrade, you get the money, and the LSE gets, well…nothing but the satisfaction in knowing that they helped someone out. Sound fishy? Check it out for yourself.

Work at Home Gift Basket Business

Friday, April 25th, 2008

If you are creative and like to make gifts for others, then a work at home gift basket business might be right for you. Making gift baskets to sell is rewarding and fun. Many people like the idea of giving personalized baskets for holidays, birthdays and special events, but don’t have the time to put them together. When you start a gift basket business, you’ll be supplying them with something they need and getting the opportunity to put your talents to work.

Before you start your life as a gift basket Wahm, make sure that this business is something that you really want to do. If you’ve never made gift baskets, but like the idea, try making one or several for your next gift-giving event. This will also be an opportunity to show off your gift basket making skills to your friends and family. While you are planning and making your gift baskets ask yourself if this is something you can see yourself doing on a regular basis.

Making some sample gift baskets will also give you an idea of how much your supplies will cost and how much time it will take you to complete each basket. This will help you gauge pricing when you start your business. However, keep in mind that when you get a business license you will be able to buy craft supplies for wholesale prices.

Getting a business license is an important step in making yourself into an official Wahm. The process is simple and there are many tax benefits to becoming a legal businessperson. You will also get your supplies at wholesale and be able to get discounts on other business related expenses.

Once you’ve decided that making gift baskets is right for you, it’s time to develop your catalog of basket options and prices. Think up a few prototypes for different situations. Although gift baskets are popular during the holiday season, you can also create them for graduations, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Valentine’s Day and other events. Create a few different gift basket ideas and then ask your friends and family for their opinions. Make sure your choices of design and gift basket items are popular with many people before you make them part of your catalog.

Have your prices ready for both standard baskets and custom baskets, and then make your business cards and start advertising. By now, your friends and family will know about your business and you can tell them to spread the word on your new venture. Network with other local businesses, like nail salons and florist shops, to get your name in front of more people. Targeting businesses that are frequented by women is a good tactic because women are more likely to purchase your baskets.

Around the holidays, corporate companies are looking to buy gifts for their clients and suppliers. This can lead to a lucrative seasonal business for you. You should start marketing your corporate gift business in October at the latest. Network with your husband’s employers and the employers of your friends and family.

Being a gift basket Wahm is a great way to show of your creativity and provide a valuable service at the same time. The rewards are many and with planning and initiative, it can be a very profitable business venture for you.

A Cool Business Name

Friday, April 25th, 2008

A Cool Business Name is one of the first things to consider when starting a business. After all, a Cool Business name is going to be one that people remember and will distinguish you from the rest of the pack. By having a cool business name, the first impressions people get of your business will be positive, and as they say it’s first impressions that count. You don’t always get a second bite of the cherry in business! By having a cool business name, the first step of luring customers in should be the easy part. People are naturally curious and will want to check out your business to see what you have to offer. Choosing a cool business name really is a big task. So you need to break the process down and take a look at your business as a whole. What is your business model currently? What might you be doing in the future? By naming your business on your current business activities limits your potential to expand future business activities. For example, you choose a really cool business name for a sandwich bar and limit the business name to Sandwich Man. Then two years down the road after people know and love you as Sandwich Man, you decide to expand and open a nice restaurant that opens of an evening above the sandwich bar. A nice restaurant called Sandwich Man? I don’t think so! Get the point? Also look at the type of services or products that you are offering. If you have a wide range of varying products then a cool business name should be a generic one that will not isolate any of those products or services. Google is a good example. What does Google mean? It’s a catchy name that means nothing, but is now known by millions and millions of people. It is so generic that it can cover any topic. Sometimes it’s a good idea to find a cool business name that is funny. Anything that will make a person smile will also melt any initial consumer frostiness. Humour is a great attraction in any walk of life! Choosing a cool business name is coming up with a name that will stick in people’s mind. A name they can’t get out of their head. Something catchy, whitty, saucy or bold, don’t be afraid to go out of your comfort zone. If you can do this then you really will have found a cool business name.

So many Network Marketing companies (aka: MLM)….What is right for me?

Friday, April 25th, 2008

Beware of the Fluff. They seem like great companies, they have a good sales pitch and their comp plan looks good too. They have big corporate offices and have been around for years. Isn’t that good? Any company out there that sells products like lotions, potions, pills, miracle juices or miracle gas saving products usually doesn’t work for the average person for many reasons. Those companies usually make most of their money from you, the distributor, not from selling the products. They have you on auto ship, so you are their income. They only pay about 2% to 15% so many levels deep. They will tell you that when you fill the matrix, you won’t have to do anything and you’ll be making 20 to 40k a month. The truth is, there are so many loop holes to their comp plans that no body ever reaches those levels. You either will have too many people on your left, but not enough on your right side to make the higher level payouts. They tell you that you need more personal volume and your group volume is fine or vice versa, or my favorite, you had fallout this month, so you no longer qualify for that car bonus we promised you about. They make you hold home parties to push your crap on your friends. Listen to me…..If I wanted weight loss, I’d go to GNC. If I wanted Lotions, I’d go to CVS, Save on, Nordstrom or Bullocks. If I wanted to put additives in my gas tank, I’d go to Kragen, Chief or Pep Boys and buy a product from STP or Penzoil. You get what I mean….? They are a copy cat company of the original company. How many companies out there are selling a juice that is based from the Acai Berry, Goji berry or the Mangosteen fruit? How many of those promise to cure cancer? What a joke? Is our society that ignorant that if something actually cured cancer, wouldn’t we want to check it out? How many travel companies are there now? How many fuel additives are there now? How many of those have been shut down? How many make up, skin lotions and vitamin companies are there out there? It just seems like there is so many junk companies on the internet, how do you what is good and what is not? Some of these companies above actually have a good product, but I would never go in business with them. So, how do I choose a business that I can profit from and that I can be proud to represent? When I evaluate a company, I look for these key points. Keep in mind, when I join a company, my #1 goal is to make money and to do it legitimately. I do not want to hurt anyone or rip anyone off. This is what I’ve learned and these guidelines will help you determine what company is right for you. If you are not making at least 75% of the upfront commission when you make a sale, forget it. This means that you are doing all the work and the company and/or the person above you is making all the money. If you have to have 1000, 10,000 or 20,000 people in your organization before you make any real money. DO NOT Join. Most people will NEVER get there. If they teach you to hold home parties and invite all your friends. Run away fast. If they have a sales pitch 2-3 times a day and only 2-3 training classes per week. This means that the company is more interested in selling you than training you how to make money long term. If you can’t break even or get into profit with 3 sales, forget it. If you can’t speak with the owners or the corporate office via phone or webinar, Forget it. I like to know who I am doing business with before I will do business with them. If it is a start up or in pre launch, forget it. The chances of these companies becoming the next Amway is about as good as winning the lottery. At least with the lottery, you have a chance to win once or twice a week. You might as well go to Vegas and blow your money on a good time. At least you’ll have some great memories, see a great show and have a great meal. These are not all the rules for success on the internet, but this is a great guideline to follow when evaluating an internet company. Robert Hirsch Austin TX. Media Placement: The Untold Story Behind ALL Major Breakthrough Business Successes

Friday, April 25th, 2008

Success in business is a rare thing. Most businesses fail today,
not because they were built upon bad ideas, but because most
business owners do not focus on what truly makes the difference
between success and failure.

There is one skill, above and beyond any other skill, that is
critical to your success in business. If you do not learn to
adapt this skill, your business idea will probably either fail
or not reach your intended level of success like ninety-eight
percent of all start up businesses in the world today.

It does not matter whether you are running a restaurant, a
retail store, an Internet business, or a h@me-based business;
the necessity is still the same. This one skill is the biggest
reason for success and failure in business.

Oprah knows the secret; so does Time Warner, Ted Tuner,
McDonald’s, Google, and Bill Gates. I could go on and on.
They know the secret. Do you?

What is the secret?

It is the art and science of “Media Placement.” This one skill
reaps more rewards than any other aspect of business. You want
to become a “Media Placement Specialist.”

You might ask, “What is a ‘Media Placement Specialist?’” Well,
first of all, this is not about getting a certification to put
on your resume to get a job. It is how to specialize in the
skill of placing media to promote your business. It is also
bigger than “traditional marketing.”

When someone masters the art and science of placing media,
they start to control the game. If they master many areas,
they are what many experts call a “media mogul.” A “media
mogul” controls different forms of media and, ultimately,
marketing.

Oprah Winfrey is a great example. She is self-made. She is a
self-made billionaire media mogul. Oprah is now the owner
of Harpo Productions, has her own TV show, had a radio show,
and does print media and Internet marketing.

When you master the art and science of media placement, the
idea is simple. Start small, and find one or two methods of
media placement that work for you. You could start by trying
Internet media placement, direct mail, pay-per-click,
co-registration, or articles. The idea is to find a couple
of means, start them working for you, and then you can grow
your business and expand the types and amounts of media you use.

Today, Internet marketing is one of many media placement
strategies you could use. It could be the single fastest,
least expensive, low-risk type of media available today if
you take the time to learn some of the secrets. Once you do
your testing on the Internet, it makes it easy to expand
into other types of media quickly.

There are many resources you can find that are available to
learn the art of marketing, but there are very resources that
teach the mastery of media placement. Take the time to learn
it. It could become the best investment you have ever made.
